For Groups...

We can host all kinds of groups here in the yurts, and we particularly love to welcome those who are celebrating 'big' events. We regularly have families staying for a special birthday - during 2019 alone we had groups celebrating 40th, 50th & 70th birthdays!

The yurts are perfect for big families, Hen parties, groups of friends or even retreat weekends - if you have something special in mind please do get in touch. We can accommodate up to 22 in total in the yurts combined, but if you need more space we have access to Morris the Shepherd Hut who can join us, or you can also bring tents (charged on a per tent basis providing you arrange this in advance and you are taking all yurts). We also have 4 cottages if you need even more space!

If you would like us to organise catering, we can provide an authentic Spanish paella and pavlovas. Or we can recommend some excellent outside caterers for you - just let us know what you'd like.

The Barn is an ideal gathering point for your group - it can be decorated for your party and has everything you need to dine, socialise and relax in comfort. The outdoor space around the yurts is perfect for family games and even yoga!

"Mark and Katie have worked hard to create this wonderful yurting experience. They get it just right-welcoming and friendly but allowing folks to just get on with it and enjoy! We opted to ask for Katie's paella on our first evening as everyone was arriving at different times-not to be missed! It was delicious. The table was set beautifully for us, with vases of flowers - it all just created the right ambience after a long journey for our first night. The whole experience from start to finish was wonderful. It was lovely to be in such a peaceful, beautiful setting for a weekend. Absolute bliss!"

"Some memories really will last a lifetime. We took over all the yurts for my brother's 50th Birthday surprise and after travelling from all parts of the UK, we arrived to amazing paella which we had in the barn - cooked by Katie. The owners are around if you need them but otherwise leave you to it - perfect!"

"We had a wonderful weekend at Blackdown Yurts. We were a large group (5 families) so we had the place to ourselves. There's a large area for ball games, countryside to explore (one of our sons spent most of the weekend up a tree or following hidden pathways through the hedgerows), a really nicely set up communal kitchen/sitting area. BBQs were provided with coal (nice touch) and marshmallows to toast on the fire. Also lots of firewood was provided. Mark and Katie are lovely hosts, very welcoming. Katie took our group on a bat walk one evening. There are no other properties around so you feel completely on your own – neither disturbed by anyone else nor (in our case!) worried about your children disturbing other people. Great pub recommendation (Culm Valley Inn in Culmstock) for lunch, next to a river where the kids spent a happy afternoon paddling while we lounged on the banks (delicious food too). Blissful weekend!"

"We hired all the yurts for a family celebration, so had exclusive use of all the facilities. Couldn’t have been better! The barn was great for eating and being together. We made use of the fire pit and the log fires. The surrounding countryside is beautiful. The wooden shower block is new, clean and a big bonus. Katie arranged a bat walk for us all which was great. Everything needed is provided and the little extra touches everywhere were enjoyed by us all. Would definitely recommend!"
