No really, let's. Have you ever been to a campsite and been really disappointed bt the state of their toilet and shower block? I certainly have. With glamping I think you quite rightly should expect a higher quality bathroom experience during your stay. I was so embarrassed by the state of the barn bathrooms when we took over back in 2016, so we refurbished them as quickly as we could during the winter of 2017, installing a private bathroom for each of our four yurts, with hot water in showers and basins, flushing toilets, step stools for our younger visitors, and a rustic yet modern style using reclaimed and upcycled materials such as pallets and corrugated iron. A couple of years later we decided to twin each of our toilets with latrines in communities around the world needing improved access to toilets and clean water with a fantastic organisation called Toilet Twinning. Ours are in Afghanistan, Honduras, Nigeria and Zambia. I've realised though that we can't stand still when it comes to improving our standards for guests and for the planet. Last week I was contacted by a guest who stayed the weekend before. She requested that we consider providing unbleached, unscented toilet roll in the bathrooms. In my defence, I hadn't realised that the usual toilet roll I purchased had changed and now had some sort of scented lotion on it, but I was really glad she had spoken out about it and I've just ordered some unbleached bamboo loo paper from Ethical Superstore which I think will fit better with our values and ethics here at Blackdown Yurts.
Come and experience our gorgeous bathrooms for yourself this Summer. They really are quite special even if I do say so myself.
