Blackdown Yurts

Our Yurts

We have three beautiful, authentic Nomad yurts from Mongolia.

Each one has been furnished with an eclectic blend of rustic and ethnic furniture. Thick Kilim rugs, fluffy sheepskins and plump cushions around the central log burner create an inviting space to sit and relax.

The yurts can sleep six people in singles or doubles. Sturdy beds are made of reclaimed wood and bedding is organic - from wool-stuffed bedrolls and and pillows to the bed linen.

Badger and Woodpecker Yurts are set at the bottom of a gently sloping ten acre field with open views to surrounding woodland. Each has its own private space, enclosed by a high Devon bank scattered with wild flowers.

Buzzard Yurt is set apart on a small plateau on a hillside above the others, and can only be accessed on foot. Flanked by oak trees, with stunning, panoramic views across the valley, it provides a wonderful vantage point for watching local wildlife.

All cutlery, pots and pans etc are supplied, and the tin roof field kitchen next to each yurt is also kitted out with a camping gas stove and a barbeque.

And, if you prefer a few creature comforts, our open barn has been kitted out with comfy sofas, log burning stoves and a few modern extras, such as a small electric grill, kettle, toaster and fridge/freezer.

The shower block has two electric showers and a flushing toilet, all of which run into reed beds that act as natural filtration units.
