This week we received our latest assessment report from Visit England. We are delighted that we have retained our Gold Award for the fourth year in a row with our highest ever assessment score of 88%. Teresa, Visit England's assessor, said "Blackdown Yurts continues to present to a high standard. Following this year's assessment visit and change from the Accreditation scheme to Star Rating scheme, the site achieves a high scoring Four Star Glamping Rating and well deserved Gold Award. The glamping yurts continue to provide a very comfortable standard of accommodation and the whole site and range of facilities appear to be very well maintained." Breaking down the categories we were awarded 5 stars for pre-arrival and arrival information, 5 stars for quality and condition of beds, bedding and bed linen and 5 stars for cleanliness across the whole site. We were awarded 4 stars for exterior look and the grounds, bathrooms, kitchen, living space and lighting and heating. Teresa noted that "each yurt is well spaced with hedge planting further enhancing privacy". Also that there is "plenty of colour in the many planters, more trees planted and rewilded areas." Teresa noted that "Sturdy beds are maintained in excellent condition. Pocket sprung mattresses adding to the comfort. The inclusion of day beds provides an efficient use of available space. Very good quality bedding is pristinely presented with plenty of attractive throws and cushions." "Each yurt is allocated a private shower room with modern flushing toilet, sink and shower with on demand hot and cold running water. Benches and hooks are provided for clothes and shoe storage. Decor is rustic and neat; the use of wood and reclaimed corrugated metal in keeping with the site's eco credentials." "Each yurt is provided with an adjacent, under cover camp kitchen. All appear to be very well maintained and include gas ring and oven in very good condition." "Neatly arranged interiors to each yurt. Hardwearing carpets are well fitted and add to the comfort underfoot. Wall coverings are bright and colourful, enhancing insulation and the overall presentation. Furniture is of a mixed style, all of which appears to be well maintained. Log burners provide warmth and add to the ambiance. Fires in select yurts have been relocated to the side of the yurt to free up space and allow for coffee tables to be provided. A good amount of space available for guest items." "Additional living space is provided in the Barn; a comfortably arranged space with large log burner and 'new' recycled sofa in very good condition. A great communal space, ideal for large groups to get together or meet your neighbours." A big thank you to Teresa and Visit England for taking the time to visit and write such a comprehensive report of our facilities here at Blackdown Yurts.
